【国際コース】　「Drama」授業　～関西弁は英語で…～

　今日のドラマの授業で、生徒たちは面白いチャレンジをしました。

　札幌から大阪に引っ越してきたばかりの大学生が買い物をしていると、突然、年配の女性が何を買うべきか細かくアドバイスし始めるというドラマのシーンが与えられました。もちろん、年配の女性は関西弁で、大学生はかなりソフトで丁寧な北海道弁で話します。

　生徒たちの課題は、関西弁と北海道弁で話している感じを表現する完璧な英語を見つけることでした。生徒たちは、関西弁と北海道弁の微妙な違いを英語で表現し、笑ったり楽しんだりしていました。

　次回のレッスンでは、生徒たちはそのシーンを演じ、他のクラスのメンバーに発表します。

Today in Drama class, students had an interesting challenge. They were given a drama scene where a new university student who has just moved from Sapporo to Osaka is shopping and suddenly an older woman starts giving him detailed advice about what to buy. Of course the older woman character speaks in Kansai dialect and the university student speaks in rather soft and polite Hokkaido dialect. The students challenge was to try to find the perfect English to express the feeling of speaking in Kansai dialect and Hokkaido dialect. The students spent a lot of time laughing and enjoying the very subtle differences used in English to express the different feeling of the different dialects. Next lesson the students will have to act out the scene and presented it to the other class members.
