【国際コース】　「Test Skills」授業　～仲間との協働で効果的に学ぶ～

　国際コースの生徒の多くが、「Test Skills」の授業は学校生活の中で最も役に立った授業のひとつだと答えます。この授業では、英検や大学入学共通テストの過去問を利用して、英語をより効果的に勉強するためのさまざまな方法を学びます。今週のTest Skillsクラスでは、少人数のグループに分かれ、英検テストを使って英語を勉強する方法を学びました。

　生徒たちは、経験の長文を流暢に読む練習をしながら理解力を高めるグループリーディング、長文の各段落をより深く理解するためのグループ質問作り、要約の要点をお互いに聞き、他の生徒の要約を参考にして自分の要約を改善するアクティビティの三つの勉強法を行いました。

　グループでの英語学習が効果的であり、また楽しいものであることを実感する良い機会となりました。

Many International Course students say that the Test Skills class is one of the most useful classes they take during their time in high school. During the Test Skills class, students study different ways to use tests like the EIKEN and the standardized university entry exam to study English more effectively. This week in the Test Skills class, students learned how to use the EIKEN test to study English in small groups.

Students did a group reading activity in which they could practice reading fluently as well as improve their comprehension of an article, a group question making activity to understand each paragraph in an EIKEN article more deeply, and a summarizing activity in which they listening to each other explain the main points of an article and then used the other students summary to improve their own summary of the article.

This was a good chance for students to see that studying English in a group can also be an effective and also fun way to learn English.
