【インターナショナルコース】PBL（プロジェクト型学習）レベル2：世界の都市と気候変動
クラーク国際 東京キャンパスのインターナショナルコースは、英語力、ほかの文化を理解する力、世界の課題に取り組む力を育成するコースです。インターナショナルコースでは、今年度からプロジェクト型学習（Project-Based Learning）を取り入れた新しいカリキュラムを開始しました。今回はPeter先生が、レベル２の授業の様子をご紹介します。
What other cities are doing to fight climate change
Today in class, we looked at a number of different cities and what they are doing to fight climate change. Students were surprised to learn that Japan is behind in some areas and in front in others.
今日の授業では、様々な都市が気候変動と戦うために何をしているのかを探りました。生徒たちは日本がある分野では遅れていること、またある分野では進んでいることを知り、驚いていたようです。
Explore the demographics
Students were asked to first choose a city after having watched a video and report on the basic demographics of that place. For example, how many people lived in that city. What are the main cultural attractions of that city. What is the most popular food in that city.
生徒たちは、まずビデオを見てから都市を選び、次にその場所の基本的な人々の特徴を報告してくれました。例えば、その都市には何人の人が住んでいるのか。その都市の主な文化的見どころは何か。その都市で最も人気のある食べ物は何か。といった特徴を教えてくれました。
Inspiration for travel
Once we have completed our research, we will start looking at what these cities are doing to help the environment and fight the effects of climate change. Students enjoyed the experience of researching places outside of Japan. I hope it has inspired them to travel when they have the opportunity to do so.
リサーチを終えたら、これらの都市が環境保護や気候変動の影響と闘うためにどのような活動をしているかを調べ始めます。生徒たちは、日本以外の場所を調査する経験を楽しみました。今日の授業が、機会があれば旅に出たいと思うインスピレーションになったら嬉しいです。
