【インターナショナルコース】PBL（プロジェクト型学習）レベル3：今年度最後の授業

クラーク国際 東京キャンパスのインターナショナルコースは、英語力、ほかの文化を理解する力、世界の課題に取り組む力を育成するコースです。インターナショナルコースでは、今年度からプロジェクト型学習（Project-Based Learning）を取り入れた新しいカリキュラムを開始しました。今回はAdam先生が、レベル３の今年度最後の授業をご紹介します。

Planning for Adventure

In our level 3 PBL (project-based learning) class we planned for adventure. The students were divided into groups of four, and given an assignment. The task was to plan a trip to a foreign country and present all the details to the class. First, they consider where and why they want to travel.

今年度最後のクラスでは、冒険を計画しました。生徒たちは4人ずつのグループに分かれ、ある課題に取り組みました。その課題とは、海外への旅行を計画し、その詳細をすべてクラスで発表すること。まず、どこに、なぜ旅行したいのかを考えました。

Why you want to visit the country

Would they want to visit a specific country for the food, a festival, to volunteer, to see a specific sports event, study abroad, visit an amusement park, historical site, art gallery, or simply to experience another culture? Then they must decide how they’ll get there, where they will stay, what is the currency, and make a schedule.

特定の国を訪れたいのは、食べ物のため？ お祭りがあるから？ ボランティアをしにいく？スポーツ観戦のため？留学のため？遊園地や史跡、美術館を訪れたいのか、単に異文化を体験したいのか。そして、そこまでの行き方、滞在先、通貨、スケジュールを決めなければなりません。

Make new friends, learn about diverse cultures, and get inspired

To really understand a foreign culture, the best thing to do is go there. But the next best thing is to look into and research the dos and don’ts. These are very specific to each country. It can be surprising because they may be different from what we are used to.

外国の文化を本当に理解するためには、現地に行くのが一番です。しかし、次善の策は、「すべきことと、するべきでないこと」を調べ、リサーチすることです。これらはそれぞれの国特有のものです。私たちが慣れ親しんでいるものとは違うかもしれないので、驚くかもしれません。

Learning the dos and don’ts before you travel to another country will ensure that you have a safe, and enjoyable experience. In this lesson, the students made new friends, learned about diverse cultures, and got inspired to travel around the world.

他国へ旅行する前に注意事項を学んでおけば、安全で楽しい体験ができるはずです。この授業で、生徒たちは新しい友達を作り、多様な文化について学び、世界中を旅してみたいと思うようになりました。
