【インターナショナルコース】モンクス先生による World History の授業
インターナショナルコースでは、英語を使って世界に羽ばたき活躍する生徒の育成を目指しています。今回は、アメリカ出身のモンクス先生による、英語「で」英語や国際教養を学ぶCLIL（クリル: Content and Language Integrated Learning（内容言語統合型学習））科目の一つ、’World History’ の授業をご紹介します。
英語で世界史を学ぶ
Take a look at this textbook; it’s a World History textbook used overseas in American high schools. In the International Course, the top level students have some classes that require them to study foreign textbooks. It’s quite difficult, so the students have to do their best. Through this challenge, their English skills grow.
World History の授業では、アメリカの高校で使われている世界史の教科書を使います。内容はかなり難しいですが、このチャレンジを通して英語力が伸びていきます。
In our World History class, students have homework every week. They must read the textbook, write their thoughts on the reading, and come to class ready to discuss what they read. Through this process students not only retain the information, but synthesize it into new ideas.
